IN THE NEWS

It's been over a year now since Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney were arrested after police tried to pull Chesney from a police horse he was riding backstage at the George Strait Country Music Festival.

McGraw was accused of attacking deputies as they rushed to Chesney. Mark Russo, Tim's road manager, was also accused of joining in. Now we all can get back to our daily lives now as the verdict has finally been reached.

Tim McGraw found innocent.

McGraw was found innocent of charges that he assaulted a sheriff's deputy during the scuffle. The jury also found Chesney and Russo innocent for their roles in the ruckus at the music festival near Buffalo, New York. McGraw and Chesney hugged each other as the verdict was read and proceeded to have sex right there in the courtroom. McGraw's wife, Faith Hill, wiped away tears in the front row as she looked on. (OK, I lied about the sex thing. I just wanted to see if you were paying attention.)

I just found out that my most favorite pastime is going to send me to hell. It has been reported that The Free Presbyterian Church in Belfast has warned that people who engage in the popular pastime of line dancing are at risk of going to hell.

They quote a statement, apparently read to all Free Presbyterian congregations, in which the northern Irish politician and church leader Rev. Ian Paisley denounced line dancing as "the latest manifestation of worldliness amongst professing Christians" and that it "aids and abets fleshly lusts which war against the soul." I thought I'd mention this with the intention of recruiting more young folks to the Wednesday Night Line Dance Party at Charlie's.

Y'know, a lot of hoopla has been made in entertainment magazines over which shows will be picked up for next season. We read about The Weakest Link and Will & Grace and that  guy who does the Angel TV series coming back for another year, but the real question on everybody's mind is what about the Billy Ray Cyrus TV series, Doc? I know I've had plenty of sleepless nights this past month, but I just got the good news that Pax-TV has picked up the series for its second season. They called me personally to let me know and alluded that I was the only one who inquired, but I know that couldn't be true. It's just the most fascinating show, and I anticipate every week as Billy Ray plays, get this, a small-town doctor who moves to New York City. Soon I know there will be a whole slew of small town doctor shows hitting the airwaves, as it will be the latest craze, and then we can all forget about that Survivor concept. Taping for this season wrapped up in Toronto on June 13, and now Billy kicked off his Southern Rain national tour on June 17.

OK, now here is an idea: Take a famous recording and add your voice into it. Then sell the CDs over the Internet and don't expect anyone will ever get wind of it. Apparently, that's what singer/songwriter Michael J. Young thought until he was sued by Trisha Yearwood for doing that very thing. Young, who is based in Columbus, Ohio, agreed to stop selling or distributing a demo recording by Yearwood into which Young had mixed his own voice as a duet. Love What Ya Do to Me appeared on an album by Young that was sold on the Internet. Yearwood recorded the song, written by Young and Curtis Rucker, for producer Jeff Teague in 1990 when she worked as a demo singer in Nashville before becoming a star. Yearwood contends the recording was never meant for commercial release but was intended for use in pitching the song to other singers. She is seeking an unspecified amount of money in damages. This story will be featured in next month's issue of Duh! magazine.

Finally, recently made headlines again as he is currently in the process of suing a senior citizen home over copyright violations with his previous hit single "Frizzy".

Video from 's hit tune "Frizzy"

Apparently, Cooter caught the seniors red handed playing "Frizzy" without paying the appropriate Royalties.  They are currently imprisoned at a San Quentin area jail cell awaiting trial.
